My Project Settings for Test Runs & Results

Before this you might want to read:

Overview

The settings & preferences on the 'Test Runs & Results' tab of the 'My Project-level Settings & Preferences' screen allow you to configure the preferences related to the Test Scripts' home screen, create/edit/view Test Scripts screen and executions & debugging

Test Runs & Results Preferences & Settings

The settings & preferences are grouped into the following sections:

  • Test Execution Results
  • Automated Email Notification about Test Cycle Execution and Analytics/Reports Generation
  • Asset Capture Configurations
  • Annotations
  • User-Defined Variables Configurations

Auto-Expand the Test Scripts section:

The 'Default' setting allows you to choose the way you wanted to view the execution results tab once you land on the results tab of a completed test run within the Worksoft SaaS portal.

The default is 'Auto Expand First Test Script'. The other option that you can choose is 'Auto Expand Failed Scripts'.

On selecting the first option 'Auto Expand First Test Script' would show the first script of a test run in the expanded way on navigating to the results tab of a completed run and on selecting the second option, you would be navigating to the result tab of a completed run with all the failed scripts in the expanded way.

Disable the Tooltips text:

On the Execution Results screen, you would see a tool-tip when you hover on multiple icons/buttons available. If you want your Execution Results screen not to show up these tool-tips, you can do it on a single click that is available. You may need to check/select "Disable the Tooltips text" check-box and save the settings such that, you would not see the tool-tips from the next on when you hover on any of the icons/buttons.

You are still given a provision to view the tool-tip for below-mentioned cases even when this option is checked/selected:

  • View/Assign Test Cycle Identifier when you hover on Test Cycle Identifier icon
  • Failure message at instruction level when any of the instructions fails
  • Test Run level error message when you hover on information icon which is present beside the status of the test run

Ignore status(es) w/ zero count:

Worksoft SaaS provides you with a feature where an email would be sent to the specified email ids after the completion of every Test Cycle. This email holds the information of the Test Cycle which includes its Project Details, Test Cycle Window, Test Runs Execution Status, etc. For more information on Test Cycles, click here

The test runs in Worksoft SaaS are represented according to their status of execution with different naming conventions. Summary of the test runs tagged to a Test Cycle is specified in the email with the respective numbers. Here, there might be a chance of seeing '0' as the count for any of these statuses. In order to avoid these 0 counts of statuses to show up in email, this option would be of great help.

By default, this option is already checked/selected. Hence the email would be triggered which doesn't contain any statuses with the count as '0'.
But, if you wish to have the statuses in the email which has 0 as the count, you may need to uncheck this checkbox and save the changes.

Autoscroll configuration for assets

While interacting with elements, certain commands (like click, type, etc.) would require the element to show up in the viewport. This will force you to add explicit commands like scrollToView before the actual commands to ensure the element is showing up in the viewport. By selecting this option, the need to add explicit "scrollToView" command can be avoided in most of the cases.

Another advantage of using this feature is that the assets (screenshot & videos) will show the concerned element in the viewport.

It is important for you to note that the option while selected, can have an impact on the execution times of the test runs. It is seen that the increase in execution times can be in the range of 15-20%.

Annotations

The default setting allows you to choose the way you would like to view the order of the annotations in the test run results tab. By default, the annotations for the test runs are shown in the 'Reverse Chronological' order where the latest are shown on the top.

User-Defined Variables Configurations

Under this section, you can configure the default setting for the User-Defined Variables for both Cloud and Local Executions. For Cloud executions, the UDV assigned to the environment at Testing Context level is shown selected by default. You can also have the default setting to drive the value of the UDV from "My Workspace" by selecting the option from the dropdown.

For Local executions, the UDV from "My Workspace" drives the value during execution by default. You can also manually select the UDV assigned to an environment by selecting the "Product Environments" option from the dropdown.

You need permission to edit the settings values

It is important for you to remember that you will be able to edit a setting in the context of a project ONLY if the project lead of that project has given you permission to personalize the value for the setting.

Propagating value of any setting from this project to other projects

Propagating your value of any setting to other users of the same project

If you are a project lead for the project, then you will be able to share the value you set for any setting to other users that have access to that project.
