1. UDV used as a part of a Data Filter
In Worksoft SaaS, we also have an opportunity to set the Data Filter value using User-Defined Variables. This can be best utilized when the filter values need to be changed multiple times and can be used in combination with the existing data filters.
This is also beneficial for passing the filter values dynamically at run time by using UDV Overrides option in the Business Test Run Driver.
For example, in an eCommerce application, you are testing on multiple sites like US, Canada, UK, etc and the test data is maintained in a single Data File. Ideally, you would have to edit the Data filter (let's say attribute = Site Code) and change the Filter value each time.

Instead, you can create a UDV (let's say UDV = Site Values for Site Code), save the Site values for each environment (US or CA or UK) and map the Data Filter attribute to the UDV to pass the Site values, then Load the User Defined Variables for the specific environment which will then populate the values saved in the UDV (in the Value field), thereby utilizing UDV as a part of a Data filter.
In this particular example, notice that along with this filter another Data Filter is also being used and the results are displayed in combination of these 2 filters.
In addition, you can also dynamically pass the values in the Business Test Run Driver using UDV overrides at the run time, thereby utilizing one or more UDV's to define a Dynamic filter.
