1. Multiple options to Start the Recording
For building automation, we switch on the Record function of the QaSCRIBE and perform actions on the AUT, so that it can record the actions in the form of commands.
When we click the record button, the 'Start Recording' pop-up box appears with multiple options.
At a high level, there are two options i.e. start recording in a "New Tab" or "Use one of the existing tabs". If the AUT is already opened in one of the tabs, you can continue by choosing the tab from the dropdown. If you choose to go with the New Tab, you will have to decide on the sub-options. Let's discuss each of this option:
1.2 Blank Tab - Auto Load Product URL of the Environment chosen: If you want the URL of the AUT Webpage to be pre-loaded automatically, you can choose this option. The pre-requisite for using this option is that the URL must be saved in the Environments under its corresponding Product. This is best suitable in those cases where the URL of the AUT is the same each time you want to record your Test Scripts.
1.3 Blank Tab - Use Product URL of the Environment chosen as prefix - I want to append it manually: If you want the flexibility of pre-loading the base URL of your AUT and dynamically entering into the specific page within your AUT, you can choose this option. For Example: Let's say the base URL of your e-commerce application is constant and at this point, you want to record the Test Scripts for your Product Detail Page. In this case, As a pre-requisite step, you save the base URL of your e-commerce application in the Environments under its corresponding Product and this acts as a prefix. To build Test Scripts for the Product Detail Page(PDP), you will choose this option and append the URL of the Product Detail Page.
1.1 Blank Tab - Leave URL field blank - it will be manually keyed in: If you want to enter the URL of the AUT Webpage manually, instead of having the URL pre-loaded, you can choose this option. This is best suitable in those cases where the URL of the AUT is different each time you want to record your Test Scripts.
1.2 Blank Tab - Auto Load Product URL of the Environment chosen: If you want the URL of the AUT Webpage to be pre-loaded automatically, you can choose this option. The pre-requisite for using this option is that the URL must be saved in the Environments under its corresponding Product. This is best suitable in those cases where the URL of the AUT is the same each time you want to record your Test Scripts.
