Introduction of Worksoft SaaS Feature/Concept :: Lesson 14 :: Topic 3

1. Magic Wand for self-healing tests
When you have identified that the new feature releases deployed on your AUT, caused locator changes to the existing elements, then it's important to ensure that the locators are updated within the tests you built in Worksoft SaaS.

Manually finding the new locators on your AUT and updating them in your Test Scripts is not only a herculean task but may also lead to manual errors and re-work. In such cases, QaSCRIBE provides you with another feature called 'Magic wand'.

Magic wand is available for a locator that is unique and valid, in the Target field of an Instruction within a Test Script. When we click on the magic wand of any locator that is valid, QaSCRIBE uses this locator as a reference and corrects the other invalid locators. Apart from this, it also re-sequences the selected locator to the top and adds any new locators at the bottom.

In addition, Magic wand is also capable of identifying and updating the corrected locators across different instructions within the test script. This is an amazing attribute because it brings consistency within the Tests and also prevents further failures during testing of the same locator.

Based on the Project Settings, it will either automatically update all the locators or show you all the identified locators in a pop box (Magic Wand - Instructions that can benefit from auto-updated locators) that provides details of UI Element locators that changed, list of instructions with a list of locators that are eligible for the auto-update. You can then manually choose the locators or instructions to be updated.
