Changes to Data File – Inline Edits

While creating a new Data File or when in Edit (WIP) mode of an existing Data File, if you want to make some changes to the data, you can do it inline within any cell of the data grid by just clicking on the Premium Editor icon. A pop up comes saying Premium Editor where you can perform the edits and then save the changes by clicking on the Save button.

When you want to edit the adjacent cells of a particular row, you can just select one cell and click on the Premium Editor icon and upon accessing previous/next navigation arrows, you can see the attribute names changing according to the navigations and you may do the required changes wherever necessary.

On the Premium Editor, you can see the row number in which you are editing and an asterisk mark beside the attribute name (if you have edited the value). Also, a message beside the Save button "Save changes to 'n' attribute(s) of this row." is shown which gives you an insight that you may need to save the changes after updating a particular data row.

Once you are done with all the edits, you can save the record as “WIP” or “Active”.
You can click on Save & Exit after you are done with the changes. If you want to save the changes at a certain point and then perform other changes, you may access the Save & Continue button where the actions performed till that moment are saved and you will be still on the Data File edit page. Once you feel like all the changes are done, then you can access the Save & Exit button.

Steps to add Add/Delete data rows:

  • To add a data row, click on the add row icon ("plus" icon) under the actions column. Add the necessary data and save by clicking on the save icon.
  • To delete a data row just click on the delete icon ("minus" icon), which would delete that specific data row.
The multiple Save Data File buttons are disabled until the new data row is saved.

Clone/Copy Data Rows:

Clone/Copy the complete data row of a Data File by clicking on the copy icon where the copied row will be pasted just below the data row copied.

If the respective Data Definition has any encrypted attributes, then you may first need to decrypt them by clicking on the lock icon (if not, the add row and copy of data row functionality will be disabled). You can also decrypt the values by clicking the "Show all data in clear text" checkbox. This can be done at the Data File and perform the actions. After editing the data row, you can again encrypt the attributes as is and save the data row.

To edit encrypted data:

Worksoft SaaS does not allow editing data rows with encrypted values until they are decrypted.

If your Data File has encrypted data, decryption can be done by using the decrypt icon present on columns with encrypted data or by checking the checkbox "Show all data in clear text" to decrypt all the values.
